This page has information which will make using this site more enjoyable.
If you haven’t used an online blog before it may seem quite daunting at first. This is not the case however, and it really is as simple as ABC.
Firstly, anyone can visit this site and read the posts here. If you wish to participate and add comments, birthdays, events etc, then you will need to register, which couldn’t be simpler.
A) At the bottom right of the ‘Home Page’ page you will find a little box with a number of links including ‘Register’ and ‘Login’.
B) If you are a new visitor but would like to send a Birthday Message for example then you will need to register (this is a once only process). Click on the ‘Register’ link and enter a username and a password, remember to make a note of them.
If you have already registered you will need to click on the ‘Login’ link on the ‘Home Page’ where you need to enter your username and password.
C) Once you have registered and logged in you can contribute to any section of the site.
When you are on the ‘Write Page’, you will find two areas where you can enter text; The first is the ‘Page Title’ & ‘Page Content’ section. Once you have entered a suitable title, you can enter the main information in the Page Content box as you would an email. you can make this box larger for easy editing by dragging on the bottom right hand corner.
Once you have written your post, there are a number of options available to you including inserting a picture although please do not make this a large file as people without a broadband connection may find it takes a long time to download.
You may find that your post, birthday notice, wedding announcement etc, may have more than one category it could be placed in. Please do not post the same article in more than two categories. If you cannot find a category that readily fits the information you are posting then place it in the ‘Miscellaneous’ category for now.
You will find the category list on the right hand side of the screen where you are typing out you post.
I am limiting the number of posts per page to ten. However, all the posts to this site will be accessible and will not be deleted unless they are of an unsuitable nature. Please remember this site is accessible to people of all ages.
Posts are shown in reverse order, i.e. newest entries are at the top of the page. As new entries are added, previous entries get pushed down the page and eventually archived. So, to see entries in another category just click on the appropriate link.
When you are writing about a forthcoming event, it would be worth entering the date for it after the Event Name in the ‘Page Title’ box. This is only a suggestion, but it will make it easier for visitors to quickly read the event and date at the same time.
That’s all for now. Thank you.
Ed.
